The commissioning of a glass plant in Kazakhstan’s Kyzylorda region has been delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic, Chief Executive Officer at Kazakhstan’s Baiterek National Managing Holding JSC Aidar Arifkhanov said, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.

Arifkhanov made the statement during an online press conference held on Jun. 30, 2020.

He noted that the implementation of the project for the plant’s construction began in 2015.

“The project was to be completed within two years, but the process dragged on till 2020. In 2018, we signed an agreement with the Chinese China Triumph International Engineering company, which is one of the leading companies for the construction of such plants globally. Initially, different dates were set - 2019, July 2020. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, many Chinese specialists couldn't arrive in Kazakhstan for installation process. Therefore, the completion date was moved to December 2020,” he said.

Arifkhanov also added that the project’s implementation is 80 percent finished.

“We continue working with our partners. We hope that the plant will be commissioned before the end of this year,” he said.
