Iran unveils data on its gas extraction

Iran extracts 930 million cubic meters of rich gas daily, at present, Caretaker of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei told Fars news agency, Trend reports.

According to him, of this volume, daily 830 million cubic meters of methane gas are processed and transferred to the Iranian gas network.

Joulaei added that an average of 615 million cubic meters of gas are consumed daily in the residential and commercial sectors, as well as 90-100 million cubic meters - by thermal power plants.

The official noted that a total of 56 billion cubic meters of gas have been transported to thermal power plants in Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date.

This is an increase of 3 billion cubic meters compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, this figure was 53 billion cubic meters in the same period last Iranian year.

“The daily fuel demand of Iran's thermal power plants is about 190 million cubic meters. Thus, 90-100 million cubic meters of it is supplied by the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC). About 35 million liters of it is supplied as mazut, and the rest as diesel,” he said.

As reported, Iran's daily gas extraction potential is more than 1 billion cubic meters.
