Georgia spends significant funds to finance quarantine zones

The government of Georgia spent 14 million lari ($4.2 million) more on quarantine zones, Trend reports via the State Procurement Agency.

As of the documents, the tourism administration has already signed simplified agreements for renting quarantine zones. The largest contract worth 1.2 million lari ($363,501) was signed with "Adjara Group", which provides renting of 200 rooms.

According to the agreement, the fee for renting a quarantine room per night will be 90 lari ($27.26), while 25 lari ($7.57) will be spent on the meals.

Tourism administration and other government agencies have spent over $120 million on renting quarantined hotels in 2020. The largest contract worth 19.4 million lari ($5.8 million) was signed with Metro Euphoria Hotel Batumi Ltd.

Georgia has reported 507 new cases of coronavirus, 660 recoveries, and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Some 4,619 individuals remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia as of today. Some 24,359 tests have been conducted in the past 24 hours around the country.

Georgia has had 264,158 cases of coronavirus since February 2020.
