Azerbaijan records growth in volume of Central Bank's notes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 21

Notes of the Central Bank (CBA) in the amount of 2.32 billion manat ($1.36 billion) were registered in Azerbaijan as of early April 2021, which is 2.8 times more than the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee's report.

Over the reporting period, corporate bonds worth 70.6 million manat ($41.5 million) and shares worth 27.2 million manat ($16 million) were registered.

According to the ministry, in the first quarter of this year, CBA’s notes for 2.25 billion manat ($1.32 billion), government bonds for 457.1 million manat ($268.8 million), corporate bonds for 67.2 million manat ($39.5 million) and shares for 6 million manat ($3.5 million) were placed at the Baku Stock Exchange auctions.

By the early April, the corporate bonds in circulation in Azerbaijan amounted to 77.7 million manat ($45.7 million), the Central Bank’s notes - 115.6 million manat ($68 million), government bonds - 239 million manat ($140.6 million) and shares - 3.1 million manat ($1.8 million).

The total volume of securities transactions at the Baku Stock Exchange in 4Q2021 exceeded 4.25 billion manat ($2.5 billion).
