Total assets of Azerbaijani banks grow - Central Bank

The total assets of Azerbaijani banks exceeded 32.8 billion manat ($19.3 billion) during the first 4 months of 2021, which is 4.9 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

“In the specified period, in the structure of banks' assets, the largest part - 44.6 percent - accounted for loans issued. This figure fell by 0.9 percent over the year - to 14.6 billion manat ($8.58 billion),” the CBA report said.

After deducting target reserves, the net volume of issued loans amounted to 13.4 billion manat ($7.88 billion).

Reportedly, the volume of banks' cash increased by 29 percent - up to 1.69 billion manat ($994 million).

At the same time, investments in securities reached 4.79 billion manat ($2.81 billion), while in the same period of 2020 this figure was 3.41 billion manat or $2 billion (an increase of 40.3 percent over the year).

“In the structure of long-term assets of banks, fixed assets, having decreased on an annualized basis by 15.8 percent, amounted to 740.2 million manat ($435.4 million). Intangible assets decreased by 6.7 percent to 149.3 million manat ($8.78 million). Other assets at the beginning of May 2021 amounted to 1.82 billion manat ($1.07 billion),” the report said.

“The total capital of banks as of early May increased by 3.7 percent and amounted to 4.73 billion manat ($2.78 billion). At the same time, their own capital exceeded 4.4 billion manat ($2.58 billion), and capital reserves - 330 million manat ($194 million),” the CBA said.
