The liquid assets of the Azerbaijani banking sector reached 13.9 billion manat ($8.2 billion) as of late 2021, which is by 32.4 percent more than in 2020 (10.5 billion manat $6.2 billion), Trend reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers’ report on activity in 2021.
The quick liquidity ratio of the sector amounted to 61.6 percent and exceeded the minimum demand (30 percent) by more than two times.
According to the report, 51.1 percent of liquid assets ($4.2 billion) were in foreign currency.
The structure of liquid assets is as follows: 32 percent on nostro accounts (4.4 billion manat or $2.6 billion), 21 percent - in state securities (3 billion manat or $1.8 billion), 34 percent - on correspondent accounts in the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (4.7 billion manat or $2.8 billion) and 13 percent - in cash (1.8 billion manat or $1.05 billion).
