ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, January 9. The number of bank cards issued in Turkmenistan by the beginning of January this year reached 5.56 million, showing an increase compared to the same month in 2022 (5.17 million units), Trend reports.
Citing Turkmenistan's central bank, Ashgabat has the most cards (1.88 million), followed by Mary (999,507 cards) and Lebap (915,518).
Dayhanbank State Commercial Bank leads with 1.96 million cards issued, followed by Turkmenistan State Commercial Bank with more than 1.08 million cards and Halkbank Joint-Stock Commercial Bank with 660,337 cards.
Furthermore, over the last four years, the number of bank cards issued in Turkmenistan has increased.
Turkmenistan's total number of bank cards issued reached 5.56 million at the end of 2023, a 7.5 percent rise from 5.17 million at the end of 2022.
