Azerbaijan's monetary base grows significantly

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. The monetary base in Azerbaijan stood at 19.94 billion manat, or $11.7 billion, on May 31, 2024, marking a 14.97 percent increase, or 2.59 billion manat, or $1.5 billion more than the corresponding period in 2023, Trend reports.

The data of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan shows that the monetary base surpassed 17.35 billion manat, or $10.2 billion, in the corresponding period of 2023.

As of May this year, the monetary base decreased by 0.24 percent, amounting to 47.9 million manat, or $28.1 million less than the figure recorded on April 30, 2024.

To note, the monetary base comprises cash, free bank reserves, and compulsory reserves of commercial banks in circulation.
