Azerbaijan’s Six Regions to be Included in Fonex Network

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S. Babayeva / The Azerbaijani-American joint enterprise of CATEL is to install new base stations in Azerbaijan's Kurdamir, Ujar, and Balakan regions to broaden zones for the Fonex network. The operator proposes the services of the mobile connection of CDMA2000 standard within the framework of the network.

Vugar Akhverdiyev, the technical director of the enterprise, said the aforesaid regions including Shaki, Lankaran, and Masalli will be covered by the FONEX network.

FONEX is a trademark that CATEL presented to Azerbaijan's mobile network market in April 2007.

The FONEX coverage area includes Baku, Sumgayit, the Absheron Peninsula, Ganja, Shamkir, Ali-Bayramli, Mingachevir, Yevlakh, Nabran, and Davachi.

FONEX covers 30% of Azerbaijan (excluding the occupied territories). In the near future, FONEX will cover the northern and southern regions.

CATEL JV is planning to cover all regions with the network.

The operator proposes a tariff plan of Beraber.az in the cost of AZN 0.10 manat for calls from each operator within the framework of Fonex.

The number of users of the tariff plan of Beraber.az is about 2,000.
