CATEL and Azercell subscribers can send SMS to each other

Azerbaijan's first CDMA operator CATEL and its trade mark FONEX's subscribers can now exchange SMS with GSM operator Azercell Telecom's subscribers.

For this CATEL/FONEX subscribers must enter 050/051 operator code and seven-digit subscriber number, but Azercell subscribers 040/012 operator code and seven-digit subscriber number to message cell, write short message and send it. For CATEL/FONEX subscribers one SMS costs 0.05 manat (VAT included), for Azercell Postpaid subscribers 0.05 manat (VAT excluded), Açıq Xətt/Bizdən Bizə subscribers 11 units, GəncSim subscribers 8 units. CATEL company is also planning to realize SMS exchange with other GSM operators in the future.

Now Masalli is also in the coverage area of the operator, besides all Absheron peninsula, as well as, Baku, Sumgayit, Sangachal, Alat, Kurdamir, Udjar, Shirvan, Goychay, Mingechevir, Gandja, Shamkir, Agstafa, Balakan, Devechi, Nabran, Khudat, Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Lenkaran, Astara. The Company is planning to cover all Azerbaijan's territory by the end of year 2009. 

CATEL company was established in 1997, offers wireless connection services to WLL telephone subscribers in FH-CDMA standards, also services to mobile connection subscribers in 3G CDMA standards. Since August 2004, for the first time in Azerbaijan, the company has started to apply 3rd generation technology to Azerbaijan, with the latest introduction of CDMA 2000 1x service based on the equipment of the Huawei company.
