Azerbaijan occupied a leading position in the rankings on the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), compiled by the World Economic Forum (WEF), The Global Competitiveness Report 2009-2010 said.
Azerbaijan occupied a leading position in the CIS in a number of indicators. The country is ranked at 75th place on the number of subscribers of fixed line and 82nd on levels of mobile penetration. Azerbaijan ranked 86th on the number of internet users, the WEF reported.
The WEF ranking conducted by the WEF specialists is a summary table of countries ranked by the level of development of competitiveness in this or that country. In assessing the corresponding conditions and points, experts relied on a number of indicators, including level of development of ICT.
The results of the rating confirm that Azerbaijan has significantly better indicators among the CIS countries.
