Azerbaijani Communications Ministry increases capacity of satellite communication channels between Baku and Nakhichivan

Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies has increased capacity of satellite communication channels between Baku and Nakhichivan, the Ministry said.

According to the Ministry, the capacity of the channel leased from the TurkSat satellite, was increased from 1 Mbps to 2 Mbps. The increased capacity of the channel will improve the quality of international communication services.

At the moment, NAR's communications with Baku is carried through optical lines laid in the directions of Iran-Nakhichivan-Baku and Nakhchivan-Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan. Passing through the territory of NAR, an underground fiber-optic cable trunk, 134-kilometers long, is connected to the transnational highway Trans-Asia-Europe (TAE).

The STM-16 long-range optical line interfaces are consistent with the recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union. It allows communication channels and traffic coming to the area to increase with up to 155 Mbps.
