Kazakhstan launches major data center construction

The leading Kazakh telecommunication company Kazakhtelecom launched the construction of the largest data center in the CIS, the company reported on Thursday.

The Kazakh Transport and Communications Minister Askar Zhumagaliyev, Kazakhtelecom's Chairman of the Board Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev and head of Hewlett-Packard company's consulting department on CIS countries Alexander Roy took part in the launching ceremony through the video conference.

The project has been developed by Kazakhtelecom Critical Facilities Services - a subdivision of the leading data center producer in the world - Hewlett-Packard.

The 1,000 square meter-data center, equipped with servers for data processing and storage, will locate, organize and back up data online resources, register domain names and render a lot of physical and virtual services to the network users worldwide. It will meet TIER3 level of reliability.

The data center's commercial operation start is scheduled for September.

Kazakhtelecom is the national telecommunication operator and the largest telecommunication company in Kazakhstan. The company has branches in all regions of Kazakhstan. Kazakhtelecom's main shareholder is the Kazakh National Welfare Fund Samruk Kazyna.
