Iran wants to co-op with Azerbaijan in satellite research & production (Exclusive)

Iran and Azerbaijan have been actively cooperating in the field of information and communication technologies recently, Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi told Trend.

“Iran eyes to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the field of satellite research and satellite production,” Jahromi added. “The preliminary agreements have been reached in this sphere.”

“The discussions related to satellite are intensively held as part of high-level cooperation,” the minister said.

The Iranian minister said that Iran is interested in special work in this sphere with Azerbaijan.

“The necessary platform has been created between Iran and Azerbaijan in the field of communication and information technologies and this platform is growing day by day,” Jahromi said.

"Private sectors of the two countries must closely cooperate with each other," the minister said.

“The cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan has already been established regardimg startups,” Jahromi said. “This year, three Iranian companies have been registered and started to operate in Azerbaijan’s High Tech Park.”

“Twelve Iranian companies participated in Bakutel exhibition last year while this year - 15 companies,” the minister said.

"Over the past year, cooperation between the two countries in the field of internet transit from the south to Europe has aroused great interest," Jahromi said.

Focusing on the platform for increasing startup revenues among Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey, the minister said that startup companies from the four countries will cooperate with each other as part of the platform.

“The platform is important for trade,” Jahromi said. “In this regard, the meetings were held in Baku and Tehran and an agreement was reached on a joint project.”

“Each country will allocate $500,000 and presently, the project is being formalized,” the minister said.
