The Agrarian Science and Innovation Center under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture is developing its own mechanism for supporting and developing agricultural startups, the director of the center Akbar Abbasov said in an interview with Trend.

“These mechanisms are created jointly with such international organizations as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the German Society for International Cooperation,” the director of the center added.

"Three competitions have been held to develop startups in Azerbaijan, as well as for financial support over the past two years,” the director of the center added. “Now we are holding the Agri Hackathon competition, which is aimed not only at funding but also training. Today, Azerbaijani students and developers are actively participating in the development of start-up projects for the agricultural industry."

The director stressed that 30,000 euros were allocated for the project implemented by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture jointly with the German Society for International Cooperation, aimed at resuming agricultural processes in the post-COVID-19 pandemic period.

"Our Center has reached an agreement with the German Society for International Cooperation to conduct further monitoring,” the director of the center added. “We plan to hold a number of training and competitions on agro-startups, as well as finance some entrepreneurs till the end of the year."
