The volume of cargo transported via Georgian territory has increased, Trend reports with reference to Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
The total volume of cargo transported in the country from January through April amounted to 12.2 million tons, which is 2.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2019.
In the first four months of 2020, the cargo turnover of the largest port of Georgia's Poti Port amounted to 2.7 million tons, while the figure is unchanged comparing to the previous year.
From January through April 2020, the cargo turnover of Kulevi Terminal amounted to 600,000 tons, an increase of 50 percent.
In the reporting period, the cargo turnover of Batumi Seaport reached 1.1 million tons, showing an increase of 10 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the cargo turnover of Supsa Marine Terminal amounted to 1.5 million tons, which is 25 percent more compared to the period from January through April 2020.
In total, the number of containers processed in all ports was 185,600, an increase of 1.8 percent.
