Car transit via western ports of Iran’s Hormozgan Province soars

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 3. Car transit through the western ports of Iran’s Hormozgan Province in the south of the country increased by 55 percent, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Director of Hormozgan Province Ports and Maritime Department Morteza Salari said, Trend reports.

“Overall, 47,139 cars were transited through the western ports of Hormozgan Province in 3 months,” Salari noted.

The director added that the mentioned cars were transited via western ports of Hormozgan Province to Iraq and Central Asian countries.

According to him, more than 2.94 million tons of cargos were loaded and unloaded at the western ports of the province within 3 months.

Also, 1.6 million tons of products were exported through the mentioned ports for the reporting period, of which about 819,000 tons were non-oil products, while 785,000 tons were oil products, Salari said.

“Moreover, 33,974 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) containers were loaded and unloaded at the western ports of Hormozgan Province for the past 3 months. This is an increase of 18 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he pointed out.
