BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 6. The freight traffic volume along the Middle Corridor will triple to reach 11 million tons by 2030, Trend reports via the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
ADB highlighted a significant increase in cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor: in 2023, the volume reached 2.7 million tons, an 86 percent increase compared to 2022, predicting four million tons of the transportation volume for 2024.
"According to projections, by 2030, the travel time between the western border of China and Europe will be halved, and transportation volumes will triple, reaching 11 million tons," the bank said.
The ADB emphasized that one of the notable examples of the successful use of the Middle Corridor is the launch of a new route from China to Europe by the Finnish Nurminen Logistics transport company in May 2022.
To note, the Middle Corridor is the shortest route for goods from China to Europe, passing through Central Asia and the Caspian Sea, and then through the South Caucasus and Türkiye.
