European observer: All procedures in Kazakh parliamentary elections are transparent

Kazakhstan is ready to conduct next elections without the participation of a large number of international observers as the country has made great successes in conducting the election process, a senior expert of the Aspen Institute Matthias Dornfeld said to a briefing in Astana.

Kazakhstan is ready to conduct next elections without the participation of a large number of international observers as the country has made great successes in conducting the election process, a senior expert of the Aspen Institute Matthias Dornfeld said to a briefing in Astana.


"The voter turnout is high, all procedures are transparent and democratic. We visited four constituencies, everything is running smoothly and evenly, observers are present everywhere," said Dornfeld.

Voting in elections to the Kazakh Majilis and maslikhats has today started at 07:00 (Astana time) and will run until 20:00.

Preliminary election results will be announced on Jan.16.

The Nur Otan National-Democratic Party, Adilet, Kazakhstan Patriots' Party, Nationwide Social-Democratic Party, Ak Zhol, Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Social Democratic Party Auyl are taking part in the elections.
