New electrostatic precipitator has been installed at power unit of Kazakh Ekibastuz GRES-1 power plant, Kazakhmys company reported.
The company has spent 2 billion tenge ($13.29 million) for purchase and installation of the facility.
The head of Pavlodar region Yerlan Aryn took part in the electrostatic precipitator launching ceremony.
The installed precipitator will increase ash collecting at the power unit up to 99.6 percent.
Two previous electrostatic precipitators were installed at the power units No.5 and No.6 in 2010 and in 2011, respectively. Another electrostatic precipitator was launched together with the restored power unit No.8.
The program on electrostatic precipitators installation at Ekibastuz GRES-1 will be completed next year. Electrostatic precipitators will be installed at all operating power units by that time. 12.5 billion tenge (150.49 tenge = $1) has been allocated to the program implementation. The electrostatic precipitators will significantly reduce harmful emissions at the power units.
Ekibastuz-1 company is owned by Kazakh Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna and Kazakhmys group on a parity basis. The design capacity of Ekibastuz-1 thermal coal power plant hit 4,000 MW and its operating capacity reaches 2,500 MW.
