Oil refineries will switch to an extended overhaul period in Kazakhstan, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov said at a briefing in the Central Communications Service (CCS), Trend reports.
According to him, an analysis of the current repair cycle of three refineries has been carried out, so the total time of shutdowns of secondary processing procedures for repairs reaches more than 100 days a year.
“A schedule of repairs for a five-year period has been developed, which will allow stopping only one of the three plants once a year, resulting in the equalization of the production volume over the years,” said Bolat Akchulakov.
The ministry noted that current repairs will be conducted only as needed. The most prepared plant is Shymkent oil refinery, and a deferral of current repairs at Shymkent refinery from 2022 to 2023 is being considered, based on the results of an assessment in the middle of the year.
It is also scheduled to optimize the terms of renovation (the current repairs period at the Shymkent refinery is reduced by 5 days in 2022, and the overhaul at Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery (POCR LLP) is postponed to 2023).
