BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Fixed capital investments in the arts, entertainment and leisure sector from January through April 2022 in Kazakhstan declined, Trend reports via Finprom.kz.

This figure amounted to 35.3 billion tenge ($81 million), down by 33.2 percent on annual basis.

In the regional context, the majority of investments in the sector (10.5 billion tenge or $25 million) accounted for Nur-Sultan, which is growth of 32.3 times compared to the first four months of 2021. The top three regions also included Turkestan (5.7 billion tenge or $13 million, drop of 81.8 percent) and Shymkent (4.3 billion tenge or $9.9 million, an annual growth of 10.8 times).

The smallest volume of investments fell on the Kostanay region: 82.9 billion tenge ($190 million), which is 91.7 percent more than in 4M2021.

The main volume of capital investments was provided at the expense of enterprises' own funds: 17.6 billion tenge ($41 million), down by 55.9 percent for the year.

A considerable amount also fell on budgetary funds: 10.1 billion tenge ($23 million) was invested in the arts, entertainment and leisure sector from the state budget, while 7.5 billion tenge ($17 million) - from local budgets.

Another 146.8 million tenge ($340,000) was provided from January through April this year through non-bank borrowings, which is 58.4 percent less than a year earlier.

As for the expenditures of local budgets, in the first quarter of this year, the costs for sports, culture, tourism and the information space amounted to 92.9 billion tenge ($210 million), thus reducing by 41.3 percent year on year.

The highest costs in the above period were recorded in the Turkestan region: 13.6 billion tenge ($31 million), up by 92.9 percent compared to 1Q2021. The top three also included Almaty city and Almaty region. The budget of the Mangystau region incurred the least expenses in the sector - only 2.6 billion tenge ($6 million), 23 percent more than a year earlier.

Services in the field of sports, recreation and entertainment in 2021 in Kazakhstan amounted to 400.5 billion tenge ($949.3 million), rising by 60.9 percent on annual basis.

Excluding the intangible sector of the economy, services provided in the field of sports, recreation and entertainment last year amounted to 399.2 billion tenge ($945.9 million), of which 239.1 billion tenge ($550 million), or 59.9 percent accounted for the population.

Meanwhile, the value of services in the mentioned field grew by 67.9 percent compared to 2020, and, in rural areas, the volume of services amounted to only 39.5 billion tenge ($91 million), or 9.9 percent of the countrywide volume.
