BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. Kazakhstan and Russia intend to develop cooperation in veterinary and phytosanitary sectors,Trend reports via Russian Rosselkhoznadzor Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance.

In this regard, a meeting was held between the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, and the Chairman of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Askar Zhakupbayev.

During the meeting, Dankvert noted the growing trade turnover between the countries. In 2022, Russia increased supply of meat and meat products to Kazakhstan by 30 percent and milk and dairy products by 26 percent. In particular, shipments of poultry meat, pork, sausages, milk and cream, cheeses, cottage cheese and dairy products have increased.

The Kazakh side, in turn, expressed their gratitude to the Rosselkhoznadzor for prompt supplies of FMD vaccines (vaccination of susceptible animals against foot-and-mouth disease) and announced their intention to import more veterinary drugs from Russia.

During the meeting the parties also discussed the integration of information systems both in the field of veterinary medicine and phytosanitary.
