BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 27. Around 7,000 towers providing 5G network coverage will be constructed in Kazakhstan, Sergey Konkov, General Director of “Mobile Telecom Service” LLP, said, Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan.
The towers are expected to be commissioned by 2025 by the winners of the state run 5G frequencies auction Kcell and Tele2/Altel.
Konkov noted that the introduction of this technology will enable Kazakhstan to become the first country in Central Asia and CIS in terms of 5G development.
Earlier, the bidding for 3600-3700 MHz and 3700-3800 MHz radio frequency waves was carried out. The total price of the purchase amounted to 156.6 billion Kazakh tenge ($336.9 million).
