BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports its local entrepreneurs in the development of their relations with their Kazakh counterparts, a source at the ministry told Trend.
One such measure is supporting the organization of various business meetings between the two countries.
"The 10th Joint Commission for Economic and Industrial Cooperation and the 7th Spanish-Kazakhstan Business Council took place in Astana on May 29-30, 2023. The Spanish delegation was headed by Trade Secretary of State, Xiana Méndez, while Kairat Torebayev, Deputy Minister for Trade and Integration, led the Kazakh side. As many as 35 Spanish companies, as well as around 150 Kazakh enterprises, attended those events," said the ministry.
In terms of topics, discussed during the above-mentioned events, the ministry said the sides addressed the issues of cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, water management, infrastructures and etc.
"The Joint Commission for Economic and Industrial Cooperation had two panels, one on financial instrument and trade industries and another on cooperation in sustainable energy and infrastructures. On this occasion, as well as during the Business Council, both sides analyzed the cooperation opportunities existing in sectors such as renewable energy, water management, infrastructures and car industry," the ministry said.
According to the source, the Joint Commission for Economic and Industrial Cooperation and the Spanish-Kazakhstan Business Council are organized with a biennial periodicity and provide the general framework for the trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries.
In 2022, the trade turnover between Spain and Kazakhstan was over $3 billion, a 70 percent increase compared to 2021.
