ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 30. Kazakhstan plans to create a food hub at the Khorgos knot - a place for collecting, storing and distributing food products from Kazakh and foreign producers for subsequent export to Chinese and Asia-Pacific food markets, Trend reports.
This was stated during a meeting of the operational headquarters in the government.
It is planned to build a modern “A” class food hub, focused on storing food products, including those that require special temperature conditions: seafood, fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy and deep-frozen products.
Currently, a land plot with an area of at least 50 hectares has been identified on the territory of the Khorgos International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation for its construction.
The creation of a food hub will significantly strengthen the food security of Kazakhstan and China.
Kazakhstan aims to become a full-fledged transport and logistics hub in Central Asia and the Caspian region. Transport, logistics and trade hubs are being created around the country on the borders with China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and the Caspian Sea.
As he previously Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kayrat Torebayev stated, five cross-border trade hubs are being created in Kazakhstan.
