ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 1. A French Development Agency (AFD) will be established in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
The corresponding agreement was signed in the presence of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of France Emmanuel Macron in Astana.
In 2021, the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the French Development Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperative collaboration.
The AFD is a French government agency founded in 1941 that sponsors projects and activities in developing countries.
From January to August 2023, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and France was $2.7 billion, a 21.1 percent increase over the same period in 2022 ($2.2 billion).
Kazakhstan's exports to France climbed by 2.9 percent during January to August 2023, totaling $1.8 billion. From January to August 2023, France's imports to Kazakhstan totaled $881.8 million.
