Over 100 Kyrgyz pilgrims stuck on way home from Mecca

Kyrgyzstan Materials 25 December 2008 11:32 (UTC +04:00)

Over 100 pilgrims are not able to return home after committing hajj to Mecca (Saudi Arabia), Ibragim Djunusov, the Kyrgyz parliament member said in Parliament Thursday.

The parliament member said that he and his colleagues receive a lot of complaints from Kyrgyz pilgrims' relatives. These messages say that pilgrims are not able to return to Kyrgyzstan, and their relatives do not receive any messages from them.  "I wonder what the hajj organizers are doing. Who gave the license to the companies, which had to move our citizens, but did not complete their duties?" Djunusov said.

The hajj costs for Kyrgyz citizens in 2008 have doubled, and made about $2 thousand. "But the conditions were not improved," the parliament member said.

In 2008, 3.700 Kyrgyz Muslims went for pilgrimage to Mecca, reported 24.kg.
