BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 18. Under the agreement between Electric Stations of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan's Karazhyra JSC, the first batch of coal from Kazakhstan has already arrived at the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Ministry, 64 open wagons with coal are being unloaded at the moment and another 65 open wagons are on the way to Kyrgyzstan. The total volume of coal deliveries of grade D from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan will be 400,000 tons.
The supply of coal is made at a price of $53.45 per ton and covers the period from November 2022 through May 2023.
Remarkably, the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant is the only major source of electricity generation in the north of Kyrgyzstan.
