Kyrgyzstan's import from Japan picks up

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 19. Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Japan amounted to $255.749 million in 2023, accounting for 1.6 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee shows that this figure rose by 2.7 times compared to 2022 ($93.324 million).

Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Japan reached $774,300, which is a decrease of 39.4 percent compared to $1.278 million in 2022.

On the other hand, the country's imports from Japan totaled $254.975 million, which is an increase of 2.7 times compared to $92.045 million in 2022. This accounted for 2.1 percent of Kyrgyzstan's imports last year.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.660 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than $9.803 billion in 2022.
