BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 9. Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are planning to organize testing activities for the CASA-1000 energy project ahead of its full launch, Trend reports.
According to Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy, the plans were agreed upon during a meeting between Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev and Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, in Astana.
The tests will include inspections of overhead lines, transformers, and substations between the two countries. A full-scale launch will follow after comprehensive testing and error correction.
The CASA-1000 project aims to connect Central Asia's energy system with South Asia and is set to be wrapped up by the end of 2024.
In Kyrgyzstan, work is advancing on the CASA-1000 project, which includes building a 456-kilometer, 500 kV overhead transmission line. The construction of the 500 kV Datka substation is complete, with all support structures installed and 428 kilometers of the line laid. The project is expected to be finished by the end of August 2024.
