BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. Russian Gazprom PJSC bought about 5 billion cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan last year according to the agreement signed by the parties, Russian Ambassador to Ashgabat Alexander Blokhin said, Trend reports with reference to TASS.
According to him, Gazprom purchased 10 billion cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan in 2021.
He noted that Gazprom had an agreement on gas supplies with Turkmenistan concluded until 2024, and last year it was extended.
Blokhin stressed that the issue of the supply of additional volumes will depend on how much Turkmenistan will be able to supply beyond the contract, and also added that both countries have a mutual interest in cooperation on the creation of underground gas storage facilities, negotiations on which are currently underway.
Meanwhile, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the head of the Russian Gazprom PJSC Alexey Miller in mid-February during which the parties discussed issues of further development of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector.
