BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Farmers of the Lebap region of Turkmenistan currently grow potatoes on an area of 19,600 hectares and onions on 900 hectares, Trend reports.
According to the official source of Turkmenistan, farmers of the Kerky district of the Lebap region are making a great contribution to the abundant food production in the region at the moment.
It is planned to harvest 980 tons of potatoes and 1,750 tons of onions in the district this year.
Farmers of the district last year harvested 982 tons of potatoes and 1760 tons of onions, which fulfilled their production plan.
The government of Turkmenistan provides specific assistance to the agricultural sector. Farmers, private entrepreneurs, and other agricultural producers have access to preferential bank loans, aiming to support their activities. Additionally, farmers can obtain mineral fertilizers, high-quality seeds, and chemical plant protection products at advantageous prices.
