ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 21. The Turkmenabat Silk Production Association located in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan manufactured silk products worth 70.09 million Turkmen manat ($20.06 million) from January through July 2023, Trend reports.
According to official data, during the specified period, the production association produced 70 tons of raw silk and 22,145 square meters of cotton and silk fabrics.
Furthermore, the enterprise exported 10 tons of raw silk to foreign countries in the first 7 months of this year.
In general, the Lebap region collected 1,060 tons of silkworm cocoons this year, which is 4.95 percent more than the planned volume (1,010 tons).
Silk is one of the most important agricultural products grown in Turkmenistan. The main silk production regions in the country are Mary, Ahal and Lebap regions.
