Uzbekistan’s People Exceed 27mln

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 28 August / Trend corr. T.Zhukov / Population of Uzbekistan rose by 217,900 people at the beginning of 2008, the Uzbek State Committee for Statistics told Trend .

According to the data of the State Committee, natural rise of people made up 231,800 in the first half-year of 2008 and 166,600 people of them or 71.9% belong to villages. Balance of migration amounted to minus 13,900 people in the first half-year of 2008 as compared to minus 27,300 in the same period of 2007, according to preliminary data.

Number of new-born people comprises 305,100 people, which is by 17.9% or 6.2% more than the figure of the relevant period of 2007. Coefficient of birth rate rose from 21.6 to 22.5 per thousand. Considerable growth of birth rate is observed in Andijan (from 20.7 per thousand to 22.8 per thousand) and in Namangan (from 21.8 to 23.5) regions, as well as in Karakalpak (from 21.0 to 22.3). Lower level of birth rate is observed in Tashkent - 18.3 per thousand and Bukhara region - 19.9 per thousand.

Death ratio reduced by 1,300 people or 1.7% as compared to the same period of 2007. Reduction of death rate took place in all regions of the country, except Fergana and Bukhara regions. The highest level of death rate is observed in the capital - 8.4 per thousand. A total of 60.5% of people died of blood circulation system disease, 6.6% from disease of breathing organs and 5.7% from accidents, poisoning and injury.

A total of 97,700 marriages and 9,100 divorces were registered in the first half year of 2008.
