Uzbek President Islam Karimov has signed a decree to appoint Alisher Kurmanov to the post of the country’s deputy foreign minister.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov has signed a decree to appoint Alisher Kurmanov to the post of the country's deputy foreign minister.

Kurmanov has replaced Murad Askarov in this post.

Prior to this appointment, Kurmanov served as Uzbekistan's ambassador to South Korea, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said on July 31.

He previously served as an adviser for trade and economic issues at the Uzbek embassy in the UK, head of State Protocol Department of the Foreign Ministry and ambassador of Uzbekistan to Singapore and Australia with headquarters in Singapore.

Currently, there are four deputy foreign minister posts in Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry.
