Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Komilov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia Mohamad Asruhin Nov.14 in connection with completion of his diplomatic mission in the country, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said Nov.15.

During the meeting, Komilov noted productive nature of five years activities of Indonesian ambassador in Uzbekistan and expressed gratitude for his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations in the political, trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian fields.

Mohamad Asruhin expressed appreciation for the Uzbek side for the favorable conditions created for his activity.

Indonesia recognized the independence of Uzbekistan in December 1991. The diplomatic relations were established in June 1992.

At present, the relations are governed by more than 20 bilateral intergovernmental documents. The basic principles of the Uzbek-Indonesian relations were fixed in the Joint Statement (1992) and the Joint Declaration on the Principles of Relations and Cooperation (1995).

The mutual trade is limited by a small range of goods and services. It does not meet the available economic opportunities of both countries.
