Adolat (Justice) Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (SDPU) considers its main task to form a just civil society, build a democratic state, provide innovative development in the social and economic sphere, protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, as well as increase openness of public and management authorities, their accountability to the society, the chairman of the political council of the Adolat SDPU Narimon Umarov said in an interview with "the People's Word" newspaper.

Chairman of the political council said that the party is guided by the ideas of the head of state "reforms not for the reforms' sake, but for a man," relying on highly skilled specialists, engineers and technical workers, teachers and doctors, scientists, workers of the service sector.

"We believe that the main task of the party is the realization of the idea of equality before the law, regardless of their social status," he said.

The party will initiate and support the adoption of laws aimed at protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, which are an important element in the democratization of all spheres of social life, as well as reforms in the judicial system in order to strengthen the independence of the judicial authority. A logical continuation of the work in this direction should become the strengthening of public control over compliance with legislation in the activity of law enforcement and supervisory authorities.

Priority of the Adolat SDPU is also the achievement of high quality of the laws and their stability, the creation of reliable mechanisms for their implementation in the everyday life.

Provision of the right for each people for work, for a free choice of employment, for the just conditions of work, for the skilled medical care is the main priorities of activity of the party.

Along with this, the party intends to tighten control from the part of the deputies' corps in the center and at the local level over the activity of the government and management authorities.

Provision of the rights and legitimate interests of women, improvement of their status in the political and public life, the involvement of women in the public administration and political activity remain in the priorities of the party.

Further strengthening the independence and freedom of the media, increasing their activity in the open coverage of socio-political and economic reforms, strengthening their role in the implementation of public and parliamentary control over the activity of state power and management authorities are defined priority of the Adolat SDPU.

"The party intends to continue to actively participate in the implementation of state social projects, supporting a strong social policy of the state," said Umarov.

The Social Democratic Party Adolat (Justice) today consists of 102, 200 members. During the 2009 election, the Adolat SDPU won 19 seats in the lower house of the Uzbek parliament.

Parliamentary election in Uzbekistan is scheduled for December 21.
