Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev acquainted himself with the activities of joint venture Mega Invest Industrial during his visit to Jizzakh region, Trend reports with reference to UzDaily.
Established in Forish district, the company has begun to process basalt stone and produce basalt fiber and rebar since December 2017.
Currently, the British company Leigh Barrier and National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan have invested $11 million and $26 million respectively to put the first and second phases of the project into operation.
In addition, technologies of Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Turkey and other countries were introduced.
The company produced a thousand tons of basalt rebar and mesh in 2018. It is planned to launch the third stage in the near future when an enterprise with full capacity utilization will be able to produce 4000 tons of basalt fiber and 4800 tons of fittings per year.
The advantage of basalt fittings is that it is 8 times lighter, 3 times stronger and 30 percent cheaper than metal fittings. Moreover, it does not rust, conduct electric current or lose its properties for up to 100 years. This enterprise is the only one of its kind in Central Asia and the second in the CIS countries.
The head of state got acquainted with the technological process at the enterprise and gave instructions on how to increase production and reduce production costs.
