Uzbekistan to expand co-op with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency

Uzbekistan and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) will develop a three-year cooperation program, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

It became known during the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and TIKA President Serkan Kayalar.

In order to further develop technical cooperation, it was agreed to jointly develop and approve a program of cooperation for the period from 2021 through 2023.

The sides also considered opportunities to develop and implement projects on planting greenery in the Aral Sea, establishing a training center in agriculture with the participation of TIKA and introducing digital technologies in tax and financial spheres of Uzbekistan.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to set up a joint working group whose tasks will include forming a cooperation program for the period from 2021 through 2023.

Over the past three years, 147 projects worth $26 million have been implemented with the agency's assistance, while a total of 800 projects worth $52.4 million have been implemented since the establishment of partnership with TIKA in healthcare, agriculture, small and medium business development, modernization of educational institutions.
