From January through September, value of exports ifrom Uzbekistan decreased by $1.1 billion, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has prepared preliminary indicators of the current account of the balance of payments for nine months of 2020.

The fall in world prices for energy resources, as well as the slowdown in the global economy caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, affected the volume of exports of goods and services from Uzbekistan.

As a result, domestic exports for 9M2020 decreased in value by $1.1 billion, amounting to $11.8 billion.

"Imports of goods and services reached $16.1 billion, having decreased by $3.4 billion over the same period last year. The negative trade balance improved by 35 percent and amounted to $4.3 billion," the Central Bank said.

According to preliminary estimates, the current account deficit of the balance of payments for nine months amounted to $663 million, decreasing by 63 percent compared to the same period last year ($1.8 billion).

The Central Bank noted that this situation is explained by such reasons as a significant reduction in import volumes compared to export volumes, the preservation of international remittances almost at the level of last year, as well as an increase in the price of gold on the world market.
