Uzbekistan to complete modernization of one of its HPPs

Uzbekistan to complete modernization of the Farkhad hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in the Syrdarya region,Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Energy.

The capacity of the Farhad HPP after the modernization was increased from 114 MW to 127 MW.

The Russian Power Machines OJSC power engineering company took part in modernization of the power plant.

Uzbekistan has been actively developing its hydro power production in recent years. Until 2030, the authorities intend to increase its capacity by 1.7 times up to 3416 MW through the construction of new and modernization of existing HPPs.

Russia is actively involved in the energy projects of Uzbekistan. The Power Machines OJSC will build and modernize five more hydroelectric power plants in Uzbekistan (excluding the Farkhad hydroelectric power plant) with a capacity of 275 MW and a cost of 138.4 million euros.
