BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. The number of POS terminals in Uzbekistan has reached 428,838 as of the beginning of March 2023, decreasing by 1.1 percent year-on-year (433,986 as of March 1, 2022), Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Central Bank (CBU).
CBU notes that Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank operates the largest number of POS terminals – 48,323, followed by National Bank – 40,911 and Agrobank – 40,827.
The bank says that among the 33 banks of the country, the smallest number of POS terminals was recorded in the following banks: TBC bank – 33, Uzagroeksportbank – 29, as well as Saderat bank Tashkent – 28.
According to the latest statistical data of the CBU, from January through February 2023, the value of payments through POS terminals amounted to 34.2 trillion soums ($3.01billion) – an increase of 66.6 percent year-on-year, 2M2022 –20.5 trillion soums or $1.8 billion.
Meanwhile, as of February 1, 2023, in Uzbekistan, the number of POS terminals amounted to 433,525 – a decrease of 345 terminals, compared to the figure for February 2022(433,870 terminals).
