IMF publishes forecasts on Uzbekistan’s GDP growth for 2023-2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects Uzbekistan’s GDP growth at 5.3 percent in 2023 – a decrease of 0.4 percent, compared to the estimated 5.7 percent in 2022, Trend reports with reference to IMF’s World Economic Outlook.

IMF expects the country’s real GDP growth in 2024 will settle at the level of 5.5 percent.

The fund notes that Turkmenistan is expected to have the lowest GDP growth among the Central Asian countries in 2023 –2.3 percent.

Furthermore, IMF forecasts a slowdown in Uzbekistan’s inflation rate from 11.8 percent in 2023 to 9.9 percent in 2024.

Meanwhile, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) forecasts Uzbekistan’s GDP growth of 6.5 percent in 2023, while in 2024 this indicator will reach 7 percent.

At the same time, World Bank (WB) projects Uzbekistan’s GDP growth at 5.1 percent in 2023. The bank also projects that the country’s real GDP growth in 2024 at 5.4 percent, while in 2025 this indicator will reach 5.8 percent.
