BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 28. Water conservation in Uzbekistan requires $19 billion worth of investments, Igor Alekseev, managing director and partner in Boston Consulting Group said at the panel discussion as part of the second Tashkent International Investment Forum (ТIIF-2023), Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade.

“Some $4 billion, from the mentioned amount of money, will be spent on pumping stations, while some $6 billion on subsidies to economic agents for introduction of water-saving technologies,” he said.

Alekseev also pointed out that Boston Consulting Group jointly with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Water Resources has developed a model of a canal system with an assessment of its functions.

“According to our data, the priority should be measures aimed at additional volumes of water supplies to the regions of the country. For example, new dams and new reservoirs should be established in the nearest future,” he added.
