BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. ‘National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan’ JSC and ‘Uzelectroapparat-Electroshield’ JSC (a major manufacturer of electrical equipment) have signed an investment agreement worth $9.5 million for the supply of primary equipment for transmission substations in Uzbekistan, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry.

The country’s major manufacturing company won the tender to supply primary equipment within the framework of the “Modernization and upgrade of transmission substations” investment project with the participation of the World Bank.

Following the newly signed agreement, the local manufacturer will supply primary electrical equipment such as SF6 circuit breakers, disconnectors, batteries, and voltage and current transformers for the modernization of 18 transmission substations of the grid throughout the country.

Uzbekistan's government pays special attention to the development of the energy sector of the country. In this regard, Uzbekistan attracts funds from international organizations and cooperates with major international energy companies to develop this sector.

Recently, Uzbek Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and the General Manager of China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co., Ltd. (CET) Yu Jun have signed an agreement, according to which the Chinese company will construct high-voltage transmission lines and substations in Uzbekistan.

According to the signed agreement, the Chinese company will realize this project on the terms of design, construction, and financing, as well as providing turnkey delivery of the transmission lines and substations.
