BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. The gold and foreign exchange reserves of Uzbekistan’s Central Bank amounted to $35.2 billion, as of May 1, 2023, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU).
CBU says that the value of gold and foreign exchange reserves decreased by $200 million, compared to the figure for April 1, 2023 ($35.4 billion).
As of the beginning of May, the gold reserve of Uzbekistan in monetary terms amounted to $24.2 billion, which is $50 million less than at the beginning of the previous month.
At the same time, the volume of gold reserves of Uzbekistan amounted to 12.2 million troy ounces – an increase of 0.8 percent, compared to the figure for April 1, 2023 (12.3 million troy ounces).
It should be noted that during April 2023, the value of the precious metal on world exchanges fluctuated around $2,000 per ounce, and in recent days it has been updating records (which was noticeable in Uzbekistan).
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign currency assets have doubled as of May 1, 2023, from $22.3 million up to $45.9 million.
