BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. Uzbekistan and the US discussed issues of further expansion and strengthening of strategic partnership, Trend reports.
The matter was discussed between US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and the Uzbek delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev during a working trip to Washington.
During the meeting, Donald Lu welcomed the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness for further development of cooperation, bearing in mind the implementation of large-scale projects.
During the dialogue, the sides also reviewed the current state of trade and investment cooperation.
Highly appreciating the potential for the development of relations in this area, the diplomats agreed to develop cooperation within the framework of accelerating the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Meanwhile, during its working visit to Washington, the Uzbek delegation also held meetings with US Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Alan Estevez, US Deputy Trade Representative Sarah Bianchi, Chairman of the Uzbek-American Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm and other officials.
