TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 31. Uzbekistan is constructing a new bridge on the overpass leading to Tashkent International Airport with the help of Russian consultants, Trend reports.

The construction of the new bridge is aimed at improving driving convenience and increasing the capacity to the existing bridge.

The bridge will consist of a main span with a length of 438.5 meters and a width of 46.2 meters, as well as two clover and four arched exits. This will eliminate the need for a U-turn and prevent traffic flows from crossing.

The estimated speed on the highway will be 70 km/h, and the capacity of the bridge structure will increase twofold, from 10,000 to 20,000 cars per day.

At the same time, the test of the superstructure beams for compliance with quality and verification of the correctness of calculations for bearing capacity was carried out even before the start of construction at a special landfill.

"The test results showed the correctness of the calculations of the design institute and withstood the load exceeding the calculated one. Therefore, the operation of the overpass will be carried out in a safe mode. The service life of the bridge will be at least 50 years," said Yuri Ipatov, a project consultant from Russia.

The total overload during the bridge tests carried out with a static load was 194 tons. According to the expert, it is not possible to recreate such a load during operation, which indicates the high reliability of the structure.
