TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 2. Uzbekistan and France have signed a protocol on amendments and additions to the Intergovernmental Agreement on the Establishment and Activities of the French Development Agency (AFD) and Proparco development finance institution, partly owned by AFD, in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
Both documents were signed following the talks between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron held in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand.
The document notes the intention of the two states to raise the relationship to the level of strategic partnership.
During the talks, the parties assessed the current state of bilateral cooperation and prospects for deepening interstate ties in various fields, discussed deepening of cooperation within the framework of international organizations, as well as the joint solution of urgent global and regional problems.
Meanwhile, several promising joint projects between the Uzbek government and the French Development Agency are being effectively implemented. One of these projects involves the development of the country's green economy, which includes the implementation of environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies in Uzbekistan, further cooperation in the field of green finance, green taxation, and the extensive attraction of investments in the green economy.
Earlier this year, French Development Agency (AFD) expressed its readiness to implement a second sub-program under the Green Economy Support Program in Uzbekistan.
In November 2022, Uzbekistan and the AFD signed a cooperation program until 2025 of total value of more than 1 billion euros.
